Seville from a feminist perspective

A guided tour with a feminist perspective. We discover the traces of silenced women and protagonists in the history of Seville: writers, politicians and workers who transformed their environment, from the Middle Ages to the present day.

A feminist tour of Seville

This route is an alternative and enriching tour of Seville, designed to highlight the fundamental role that women have played in the city’s history.

Through its streets, squares and emblematic buildings, we will discover the lives, struggles and achievements of women who broke the mould at different moments in history. From the female cigarette makers at the Royal Tobacco Factory, pioneers in women’s trade union organisation and a symbol of working-class labour, to the women who played a leading role in the democratic movement during the late Franco era and the Transition, promoting fundamental rights such as voting, equality in the workplace and the right to abortion.

We will also learn about historical figures such as Catalina de Ribera, who promoted fundamental social and urban works for Renaissance Seville, and Cristina de Borbón y Dos Sicilias, queen consort with a prominent political and social role in the 19th century.

During the tour, we will discuss feminist associations, support networks, legal achievements, and obstacles that still persist. A lively, reflective, and necessary route that highlights stories that have been overshadowed for centuries.

Ideal for those who want to get to know Seville from a committed, diverse, and deeply human perspective.
